Throughout our Advent Midweek Events, we will be exploring different ways to get ready for the mystery of Christmas. It takes time to appreciate that Jesus will be born again, on earth and in our hearts. Well have a chance to pray together, for fellowship, and for service each week. While the style of event may change from week to week, we hope we can enter the mystery of Christmas having slowed down, discovered the Holy Spirits working, and embodied the many metaphors of this joy-filled season. Happy Waiting!

Wednesday, November 29th, 2023, 6-7 PM, Sanctuary. We celebrate St. Andrew, who was the first disciple called by Jesus.  You are invited to support our ministry with Bunche Elementary by putting together bags for the children afterward. Supplies will be available in the hall and Brenda will give instructions before we begin. Thank you for your generosity!

Wednesday, December 6th, 2023 5-7 PM, Fellowship Hall. Advent is the perfect time to connect with others and to renew our spirit in Christ. Please plan
to take a few hours away from your hectic Christmas schedule in order to join us for a relaxing evening filled with, music fellowship, and light. Please invite your friends from the congregation and those who do not attend our church to come and be a part of this lovely evening. All are welcome.
If you have any questions, please get in touch with Susan, to get her number please call the office at 504-469-4740.

Wednesday, December 13th, 2023, 6-7 PM, Sanctuary. We celebrate St. Lucy, a martyr, who died in 304. Lucy was a young Christian of Sicily who was martyred during the persecutions under Emperor Diocletian. Her celebration became particularly important in Sweden and Norway, perhaps because the feast of Lucia (whose name means "light") originally fell on the shortest day of the year. You are invited to support members of Christ the King who struggle to make it to church. There will be cards available in the gathering area for you to sign and send good wishes to our beloved friends.  Thank you for your generosity!

Wednesday, December 20th, 2023, 6-7 PM Sanctuary. We will commemorate  Katharina von Bora Luther, renewer of the church, who died in 1552. Born to an impoverished nobleman, Katie eventually took vows as a nun, but around age twenty-four she and several other nuns who were influenced by the writings of Martin Luther left the convent. Six children were born to Katie and Martin. You are invited to support Mariners in our community by writing letters of encouragement and Christmas tidings for those who are on the water this season. Thank you for your generosity!
